Divine Blessings in Advance

2010 is the year Swami visited New Delhi. It is very rare for Swami to visit any place away from Puttaparthi. All I could think of was, "There is a reason Swami is coming to New Delhi. What is that reason? The real reason." I kept on praying for the answer but I received no clues.

For those who may not know this: Many of India's Prime Ministers and Presidents have been devotees of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Rajiv Gandhi, for example, had deep respect towards Swami, as revealed by one of his close co-pilots who wrote a book on Baba.

Former PMs Narasimha Rao, Atal Behari Vajpayee and Dr Manmohan Singh were Swami's devotees long before they entered politics. Former Indian Presidents Shankar Dayal Sharma,  Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and the present President Pranab Mukheerjee are also Swami's devotees. Other prominent political leaders who are Swami's devotees include  the current PM, LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Ashok Singhal, Chandrababu Naidu, Vilasrao Deshmukh, among many others.

Coming back to Swami's Delhi visit, everyone was excited about it. It was the BIG talk among people for weeks. There were talks of many VVIPs requesting 'special' darshan with Swami. When I made discreet inquiries in Delhi, the information I received was "Swami does not intend to meet VIPS and has rejected all meeting requests including from the highest level."

Two years later, I met the devotee who had been 'chauffeur' to Swami during the Delhi visit. He told me, "I drove Swami to all the locations. He could have gone to visit the PM or any one but the only person Swami asked to visit was Atal Behari Vajpayee whom no one visits these days. Swami visited him, spent an hour there and returned. Swami was so happy after the visit, said Atalji and Swami are old friends. He went to see some one who, at the time, no one else seemed to visit."

Being eager and curious to know more, I probed, "Did you notice anything unusual about Swami's visit? Since you drove Swami around, there must have been something you observed...His expressions, anything...."

He thought a while and said, "The only unusual thing I felt was that on the night before Swami left, He told me to take Him for a drive around the Parliament, the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the PM's residence and India Gate. I was puzzled that Swami wanted see the buildings that I know He has seen before. But you know how it is with Swami. So I drove Swami around. And then Swami told me to drive very slowly. At each building when we reached, Swami asked the car to be stopped. He simply looked for a few minutes at each building with such powerful energy that I could feel something is happening, it was like electric currents. Then Swami would signal the car to start again. After Swami's samadhi, I felt two things in my mind. One, Swami knew this is is last physical sojourn to the nation's capital. Two, we know the power of Swami's gaze. His gaze was directed at the Parliament, the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the PM's residence and India Gate. I believe now He came to bless and strengthen the institutions that were weakening our system. It was as though He was cleansing these places. Because I drove Swami to these places, I know how the experience felt to me."

I always sensed that Swami's visit to New Delhi had a deeper reason and this conversation seemed to hint the same.

When Shri Narendra Modi took oath as India's 15th Prime Minister, I felt that Swami's blessings had come in advance for both the current President  and current PM. Interestingly both of them, during the year of Swami's visit, had different positions of authority. Swami, I believe, knew and had blessed them much earlier.
